Advantage Tennis
Advantage Tennis Academy was established at the Randburg Tennis Club in April 1999 by Gareth Gibson and Vlatko Najdek.
The Academy and the club grew from strength to strength and became highly respected in the Johannesburg area with the junior u14's and the senior team becoming premier league champions in various Gauteng Central leagues over the years. In September 2001 Vlatko immigrated to the USA to rejoin his family. Gareth continued to grow and build the academy with the help of Kevin Gibson who returned from coaching at the Esporta Club in Coventry, England where he charted and assessed Andy Murray and gained much experience with the British futures programme, Ryan Beer who developed our cardio and fitness training programmes. During this time Gareth represented South Africa at the KIA amateur Australian Open in 2004 finishing as world runner-up, our juniors toured the country and excelled in the SA junior tournaments. In 2007 Gareth took up a position as manager of the Gulph Mills TC in Philadelphia for the Krinsky Group. In his time in the USA he gained vast experience at the summer camps and working with international coaches. He also represented South Africa IC at the Windmill Cup held in Washington DC in 2008. In 2010 he traveled to the Australian Open as the SA junior team coach. Our team of coaches has been enhanced with the addition of Cliff Lubbe. Cliff recently returned from the USA where he studied on a tennis scholarship at . He coached under Mark Spann in Philadelphia for 1 year before joining us. In 2010 and 2011 he travelled with 1 of our players to tournaments in Switzerland, Canada and the USA at ATP Futures level.
